Association Kinookus, within the framework of its publishing activity Kinoliber, has translated and published a valuable film manual ABC of Film. Language, Storytelling, Analysis by Italian theoreticians Gianni Rondolino and Dario Tomasi.

ABC of film is an essential text for understanding all the components of the film language. This refreshed edition comprises numerous film examples, and it also contains chapters dedicated to digital and 3D technology, and the film analysis go back to 2011.

A translator and president of the Association Kinookus Ivo Kara-Pešić, Dubrovnik film workers and representatives of the Dubrovnik civil organisations that promote film culture will be at this book presentation.

The event will be accompanied by the screening of the film Kino Otok (Cinema Island) directed by Ivan Ramljak, a poetic documentary about the lost culture of visiting cinemas in small places on the Croatian islands during the second half of the last century.

About the Author of the Book

Gianni Rondolino was a professor at the University of Turin lecturing on Film History and Reviews. He is the author of numerous essays, among which we have singled out the following: History of Film (2006), Film History Manual (2010) and the biographies Luchino Visconti (2003.) and Roberto Rossellini (2006).

Dario Tomasi has been lecturing on Film History at the University of Turin. He is the author of numerous books and essays among which we have singled out Lessons on Film Directing (2004) and Cinema and the Far East (2010).
