Although it seemed that rain was going to ruin the opening of the first small anniversary of the Food Film Festival in Ston, the organizational team of the Kinookus Association welcomed the guests and visitors in an alternative location in the Mali Ston boat house. The festival coordinator Ivo Kara-Pesic prepared a short presentation reminding the audience of some memorable moments from the last four editions with a special accent on the importance of this manifestation regarding the valuation of cultural, natural and monument heritage of Ston and its surroundings.

The Ston Municipal Prefect Mr. Vedran Antunica welcomed the audience and wished many more anniversaries of the festival. He was joined by the Deputy Prefect of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County Mr. Davorko Obuljen who, among other things, commended the obvious evolution of the festival in terms of more affluent and diverse programme.

The fifth Kinookus FFF was officially opened by the Festival Director Marijan Kocković who thanked everyone present for coming to the opening in large numbers despite very bad weather conditions.

After the opening ceremony Kara-Pesic announced the surprise film, a Spanish documentary Bye Bye Barcelona directed by Eduard Chibas, which tells the story of the catastrophic influence of mass tourism on the Catalan capital.

The opening ceremony ended with the refreshments prepared by the caterers from Ston accompanied by wine from 13 “wineificient” family wineries from Pelješac.
