Maja and Mihaela enchanted Ston
Although yesterday the morning was not smiling to the organizers of Kinookus the opening ceremony went on without a drop of rain.

The program started at 7 p.m. when a wreath was laid at the tablet in the memory of Luksa Beritic, the founder of the Society of Friends of Dubrovnik Antiques.

In the presence of the representatives of the Municipality of Ston, the Tourist Board of Ston, as well as the Society and Organization of Kinookus, the art historian Mr. Ivan Vigjen held a speech reminding the audience of the tireless spirit of the warder of Ston ramparts. At the same time, at the Rector's Palace the photo exhibition from the cycling tour Ragusa-Ragusa-Ragusa of the organization Covjek na zemlji (Man on Earth) was opened. During the Festival visitors will be able to enjoy the beautiful landscapes that on their 17 day trip the team of this Dubrovnik Organization pedaled through…

At the very entrance to the square in front of the Rector's Palace where the opening ceremony took place a green carpet of natural grass was laid for the visitors to walk barefoot or in shoes. At 8 p.m. they were greeted by the host of the Festival, Ms. Romana Kolic, and the official interpreter of the Festival Ms. Ana Nakic. The first speaker to address was Mr. Maro Kristic, Head of the County Department for Tourism, Sea and Enenterprise who pointed out that the value of the Kinookus FFF cannot be measured by the financial support obtained from the County as manifestations valuing the cultural heritage, the landscape and traditional production have no price. The next to welcome the visitors was Mr. Vedran Antunica, Prefect of the municipality of Ston who said that the collaboration between the Kinookus team and the representatives of the municipality during the last three years was a great pleasure for them and that they are looking forward to many Kinookus Food film Festivals in the future. Very inspired and emotional was the speech of Ms. Teresina Orlic, President of the County Chamber of the Republic of Croatia. She told the audience about her first meeting with the representatives of the Kinookus FFF when the Festival was
only an idea written on a piece of paper as well as of her enthusiasm concerning the idea and the concept. The last to welcome the guests and the visitors were Mr. Ivo Kara-Pesic, Coordinator of the Festival and Mr. Maro Kockovic, Director of the Festival. They stressed the importance of joint ventures, solidarity and the support given to those who feed us, the little traditional producers. The introductory part of the opening program was ended by a performance of a young Italian musician Fabio Serafini.

The Festival started with a film of Turkish production A few Brave People, directed by Ruye Arzu Koksal. The film speaks about the problem of big projects on rivers concerning energy and campaigns of the local people trying to protect their natural resources they have been living from for centuries. After the film the visitors were invited to taste and enjoy the fine dishes that the caterers from Ston and Mali Ston prepared and then accompanied by excellent wine of five family wine producers from Peljesac and Konavle recommended by slow Food Convivium Dubrovnik. And since the sweet comes at the end, those who remained to listen to the concert given by the jazz singer Maja Grgic and cello player Mihaela Culjak know that they listened to something sublime. The eyes and the ears of the people were spellbound by unique arrangements of jazz standards and well known pop songs performed by these two excellent musicians from Dubrovnik.
